Things to consider when constructing a Pickleball Court

We are licensed CGC (Certified General Contractor) #1533585 and insured, so we will make sure all construction is according to code.

Budget

Pickleball Courts range from $25,000 - $150,000 depending on multiple factors including but not limited to access to area, type of base, colors, and adding accessories such as fences and lighting.

Area/ Space

For a residential pickleball court, do you have enough space in the area you have chosen? Pickleball Courts measure 20X44, and the space needed at a minimum is 30X60 - which allows for 5’ on the sides, and 8’ in the backs.

HOA Restrictions

Does your HOA allow residential courts in their community?

City / County Ordinances

Are there setbacks that need to be followed?

Access

Does the court contractor have a path to access the area?

Base

Asphalt or Concrete? There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

Colors

Will the court be all one color, 2 colors (court and kitchen), or 3 colors (court, kitchen, and border)?

Resurfacing

Are you resurfacing an existing court? Have roots impacted the surface? It may be easier to demo the existing surface and lay a new one.

Demographics of Players Using the Court

In a retirement community where the age of the player may be a bit older, consideration of a more cushioned court should be contemplated.

Trees / Roots

Are there many trees in the area that you are planning on building your court? If so, the necessity of a root barrier will become important.

Accessories

Lights, Fences, Awnings, Bleachers, Scoreboard, Water Fountains, Sound Blocking Mechanisms, Wind Shield, Court Logo, etc should all be taken into consideration at the start of your design.
